Frequently Asked Questions

Can you breathe in freefall?

Of course you can. The freefall and parachute environments do not cause any difficulty in breathing; however, some students have commented that it was awkward to breathe during the first few seconds. This is caused not by lack of oxygen but by the surge of adrenaline and excitement of first jumping out of the aircraft. Sometimes when a person is startled they draw in a breath of air and hold it. When you exit the airplane you must continue to breathe in and breathe out.

How fast will we be falling?
Typical freefall speeds are approximately 120 MPH (200kph) although this can increase or decrease with body size and position.

What altitude do we jump from?
Up To 16,000 ft

How early do I need to show up to do my tandem and how long will it take?
We ask that you please show at time of appointment. If you’re running late please call. Plan for your skydive to be an all day event.

How should I dress?
Comfortable clothing and shoes – workout clothes, shorts and a t-shirt is recommended; jeans are restricting to leg movement. You will be wearing a jumpsuit over your clothing. If you wear contact lenses or prescriptions glasses tell your instructor so that the instructor can fit you with appropriate goggles.

If I jump with a friend will I be able to see them?
If they jump before you, you will see them exit the aircraft from the door, however the chance of seeing them in freefall is unlikely because you will exit the aircraft roughly a quarter of a mile apart.

What about your equipment?
We have the most up-to-date student and tandem parachute equipment available in the world today.

What’s the landing like?
Several factors come into play when we land a parachute, but most tandem parachute landings are very soft and you will usually land standing up nicely.

What if I’m afraid of heights?
Many people are hesitant to skydive due to their personal fear or discomfort of heights. A skydiving experience does not equate to being, for example, at the top of a ladder, bridge, or building. You are simply too high up to have a sense of height. We are literally over two miles up when we skydive. An individual would no more encounter a fear of altitude during skydiving than when flying in a jet airliner.

Can we share a video?
Two people can appear in one video on the ground preparing for the skydive and possibly for landing, but in freefall, one tandem can only be filmed by one camera.

If I am under 18 can I still jump if my parents sign for me?
Yes, but your parents have to be there on the day of your jump.

What if I am over the weight limit?
We have a strict 100kg weight limit policy.

What’s the best time to skydive?
We are open 362 days a year and we jump 362 days a year, weather permitting. We recommend early morning.

If I’m jumping with a friend can we be in the airplane together?
We will make every effort for you to jump with your friends, however, this is not always possible.

How hard does the parachute open?
Most of the time your canopy opening is that of a general tug.

How far in advance should I make my reservation?
We ask you make reservations a couple days in advance. Walk-ins will be accommodated to the best of our ability.
